Each summer, colleges, university, local buisnesses and other agencies offer programs for high school students to get ahead in their college education and/or get exposure to various careers and oportunites beyond school. This page will be regularly updated with upcoming programs for current high school students.

Boston University's Summer Investigative Journalism Workshop (Deadline: June 1)
The New England Center for Investigative Reporting, based at Boston University's College of Communication, is again offering a unique Investigative Journalism Workshop for High School Students in July 2012. Annual Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project Conference (Deadline April 2)
Open to all current 10th and 11th grade California high school students, the conference is held from July 21-28, 2012 at Sacramento State University and is a week-long leadership training program. For more information and to download an application, go to www.clylp.org .
Children's Hospital of LA--August Summer Camp Still Available (Deadline 5 p.m. March 23)
Camp CHLA is your chance to explore healthcare professional careers for five full days of education, observation and participation in the daily activities of healthcare professionals. COC Summer Institute July 30-August 3, 2012
For Current 9th Grade Students Only
Summer Institute is a one-week program that provides high school students an opportunity to consider a career path in one of the following: Advanced Video Game, Alternative Energy & Fabrication, Culinary, Special Effects, Sports Medicine, NASA Aeronautics, NASA Rocketry, and Welding. This is a Community Education program and students have register and pay for it on their own. University of Oregon Summer Architecture Academy (July 9-August 3)
The Summer Architecture Academy is an intensive four-week experience in design education. The program is about $2400 and some financial assistance is available. Application review begins March 15th.
