In March 2010, Academy of the Canyons was awarded a six year accreditation by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The Focus on Learning self study process helped the AOC staff evaluate past progress as well as chart a new direction for its future. This process was followed up by a week long visit from an Accreditation Committee, who made suggestions for school improvement and reported their observations to WASC. The six year accreditation granted to AOC is the longest period that WASC will accredit any school for, and is seen as a significant acheivement for any school.
