ASB Events
AOC is having an end of the year Carnival on June 3rd. Signup sheets for
competitions/relays will be in Ms. Rubay's office. Prizes will be movie
tickets for the winners. There will also be a Talent Show. Spots are still
open! See Ms. Rubay. Auditions will be this week on May 27th and 28th at
lunchtime.
Got Yearbook?
If you didn't buy your AOC yearbook yet, you can get one for $40 (cash or
check) from Mrs. Browning or at the carnival on Tuesday, June 3rd. Don't
be left out!
Final Senior
Transcripts
Any Senior needing final transcripts sent to their college must fill out
a yellow Transcript Request card, found on the counter in the office. You
must write "FINAL" on the top of the form and you must have a
complete college address on the card. Transcripts will be mailed to colleges
no later than June 30. Don't procrastinate. Do it now!
National Honor
Society End of the Year Celebration
Attention all NHS members. Come join us on Tuesday, June 2nd at 11:00 in
V-118. We will be celebrating a successful year, and electing our President
for next year. We need at least 2/3 of the club there for elections, so
please plan to attend. Additionally, we will be voting on a t-shirt design
for next year. Anyone interested in competing for the top prize, please
have your submissions turned in to Mr. Walker by the morning of June 2.
NHS members are also reminded that Spring Service Hours sheets are due to
Mr. Walker by this Friday.
AOC Textbook
Library
The AOC Textbook Library is in need of your donations! Please bring any
used college textbooks to the office, or turn them in to Mr. Walker, to
provide textbooks for future AOC students who either cannot afford them,
or forget them at home on occasion. NHS members may receive a service hour
for each textbook they donate.
Fall 2007
Video Students
The winners of the Academy Awards are: "They're Watching . . . You"
for Best Black and White Silent, "Soldier's Prayer" for Best Poem
Adaptation, and "Apologize" for Best Music Video. Congratulations
to the winners. DVDs are on sale for $10.00. You can purchase them from
Ms. Engerran now through Monday, June 2nd.
Math Support
Courses
New classes are being offered at Math Support. Chemistry is available this
summer. Financial aid via scholarships will be available also. Fliers are
on display racks in the office.
Counseling
Notes from Mrs. Nossman
UCLA is offering two-week Summer Art Institutes in painting, drawing, photography,
sculpture, video art and new genres. Program has intensive studio time with
faculty and graduate students. UCLA college credit (2 units) is earned upon
completion. Good opportunity to work on portfolios. Registration information
and program descriptions are available in the office.
